Ya Murio La Princesa/The Princess Has Just Died

¡Que sea su triste féretro una pálida flor;

Dos pétalos de rosa han de ser la mortaja;
un par de mariposas del coche han de tirar;

Barba Azul, Caperuza, Blanca Nieve y Simbad!

The Princess Has Just Died

The Princess has just died, she of the golden tresses,
who was birthed 'neath the skirt of a tiny blue snail,
she whose tender regard was of radiant sparkle,
the princess begotten by a ray of the sun.

How heartfelt is her death! Prepare the funeration!
Let her sad catafalque be a pale flower;
let cry the dew and the careful old pixie
and the scolding dwarf who paid her adoration!

Two rose petals will have to be the shroud;
a pair of car butterflies will have to pull;
a calyx of lily must be the resurrection box,
or a nest of feathers or a sea shell.

The Princess died, she of the peppermint mouth.
She was killed by a witch who came from Baghdad!
Let the mourners all come: gay Cinderella,
Blue Beard, Caperuza, Snow White and Sinbad!

The Princess has just died. The fragile bubble that in the past
was her balloon has shattered like glass.
The Princess has just died! She was murdered by a witch
who stuck a deadly needle in her chest!

Lift from her bed of leaves and feathers
the beautiful Princess, she with eyes of light,
and wrap her in a vaporous lace of mists
and hang a gold cross on her breast!

Take her far from the pain of worldly fears
and bury her deep in a heart free of confusion,
and leave my eyes forever spilling their tears
for the sweet and blessed Little Princess Illusion!
