Monedas

Coins

The Poet is a pilgrim who wanders the world around
risking absurdity and death in an endless quest for renown.
Sometimes he is laurel-crowned, and sometimes, with a roar profound,
He is snatched from the Mountain and dashed nameless to the chasm.

And the Soul is like a widow who left God all forgotten
hypnotized by Pleasures that made her lose her breath.
Now the flaming of her passion is a fireplace of sodden
cinder and ash, now she is the bride of Death.

And all our earthly joys are like little coins of copper
dropped from the hands of Time, that poor money-lender,
and with them for Love and Fortune we must busily barter and trade.

And the World it is a Tavern where we pass the time
until the end of the long, dark night, drinking our Dream wine
then throw we our souls onto Death's bar, and so the bill is paid!
